In just over a month the life of Khalil rountree can change completely. Number seven in the light heavyweight rankings (up to 93 kg.), the North American has the opportunity to become champion by facing Alex Poatán in the main combat of UFC 307, in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 5th.
In an interview with UFC Brasil, Rountree stated that even though he was surprised by the opportunity to fight for the belt, he feels capable of beating the Brazilian, one of the biggest names in the organization today.

“I'm ready. Every time I see Alex fight, I see a great champion. He's a great kickboxer and has faced everyone. I want to fight the best and so I'm hoping for the best possible,” he said.
When asked about his preparation, the fighter recalled the period in which he trained with Anderson Silva at Black House, in 2015. At the time, the middleweight legend (up to 83,9 kg.) even stated that he was knocked out by the North American in a sparring session.
“I already trained with Anderson (Silva). I would like to count on him again in this camp. If he's busy and can't, that's okay. But we still talk a lot. I also trained with Glover (Teixeira), but I was never introduced to Alex,” he said.
Khalil sends message to Brazilian fans
When asked about his knowledge of the Portuguese language, the striker smiled and even 'scratched' some words, saying that he only knew how to speak 'a little'. However, in his native language, he invited Brazilian fans to watch the fight and promised a memorable show.
“You need to watch the fight. Call friends and have a barbecue, it will be incredible. We're going to have a lot of fun and you'll never forget this fight. It’ll be cool,” she concluded.
