The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) officially issued a four-and-a-half-month suspension for the light heavyweight (up to 28 kg) on Wednesday (93). Khalil rountree, for being caught in an anti-doping test in May of this year, by 'Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD)', the program responsible for testing in the organization.
The suspension period expires before October 5th. Therefore, Rountree could still face Alex Poatán for the category title in UFC 307, which takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Based on documents provided by the fighter, the CSAD concluded that the ingestion was accidental, through a contaminated supplement. In light of this, the NSAC opted for a more lenient sentence. The American acknowledged the work done by the agency.
“I just want to thank you guys (NSAC) for looking into the details of this. It definitely made a huge difference in everything that’s going on in my life right now. I’m really grateful for taking the extra time to look into the details,” the athlete said in an interview with the American website 'MMA Junkie'.
For the violation, the fighter initially faced a two-month internal hook. In addition to the sanction, the athlete also received a fine of US$157,04.

On May 5, 2024, Rountree provided a urine sample contaminated with the anabolic steroid dehydroepiandrosterone, known as DHEA. Among its many effects, the hormone promotes muscle mass gain and increased energy.
After the notification, the fighter was removed from the card. UFC 303, in which he would face the former light heavyweight champion (93 kg.), Jamahal hill in the co-main event.
