The troubled situation in the UFC's heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) has been raising questions from all sides. In an interview with Canadian journalist Ariel Helwani's 'The MMA Hour', UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture criticized the organization's stance in refusing to promote, together with the PFL, a fight between Francis Ngannou e Jon Jones.
According to sports legend, the mindset of the leaders of the world's biggest MMA event prevents a fight of this magnitude from becoming a reality.

“I know the UFC has too big an ego to let that happen. That’s why the fight with Fedor (Emelianenko) never happened. Because M-1 wanted to do a joint promotion and the UFC would never let that happen,” said the former champion.
The process involving the Cameroonian's departure from the biggest MMA event in the world and Jones's weight gain has been controversial. On the one hand, Dana White claims that the refusal left from the African, while Ngannou does other allegations.

At the time, the American was the UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), a title he had won after defeating Tim Silvya in March of that year. The former Pride belt holder and partner of M1 Global was looking to establish himself in the West after the Japanese event went bankrupt. Even after several negotiations and legal disputes, the fight never happened.
