Alexander Volkanovsky threw a bucket of cold water on fans who are eagerly awaiting a fight against Charles of the Bronx in the UFC's lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). In a recent interview with 'Sky Sports NZ', the Australian left open the possibility of remaining in the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg) and postponed the long-awaited fight against the Brazilian.
The champion justified his decision by stating that he is looking for a break after a series of intense fights and that he is open to returning to the octagon later in the year.

“I told them I wanted a break since I’ve been fighting a lot. So I thought about fighting later in the year, and they said they could do it (Topuria vs. Holloway). I could have had one more fight at lightweight, because there are good fights there, but the UFC doesn’t approve of ‘floating’ between weight classes,” Volkanovski explained.
The Australian, who was defeated by Ilia Topuria In February, he showed interest in fighting for the featherweight belt, but assured that he will not stay idle while waiting for a new opportunity. On the other hand, Do Bronx is looking to get back to winning ways in the lightweight category, where he was once champion.
