even before defend his lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg.) from Bellator against Alexandr Shabliy this Saturday (7), Usman Nurmagomedov already has a future opponent in mind. He is the organization's former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg), A. J. McKee, which in turn faces Paul Hughes at PFL Super Fights: Battle the Giants in October.
In an interview with the North American website 'MMA Junkie', the Russian stated that if both beat their respective opponents, the next step would be to challenge the former champion.

“I think if he’s healthy and ready, it will be AJ McKee. He's a tough guy. I think he's going to win (against Hughes), and in the next fight, I think it will be AJ McKee against Usman Nurmagomedov”, guaranteed the fighter.
AJ McKee at lightweight?
Despite having spent most of his career as a featherweight (up to 65,7 kg), McKee is no stranger to changing weight classes. In October 2022, the American made his debut at 70,3 kg when he faced compatriot Spike Carlyle, where he has remained ever since.
