Fighter's team asks for fight against Jaqueline Amorim to be canceled due to alleged irregularities in the UFC

Jacqueline Amorim guaranteed his third consecutive victory ending with about Vanessa Demopoulos in the first round of UFC Las Vegas 97 last Saturday (7). The fight, however, was marked by controversy, as the Greek accused the Brazilian of using an irregular maneuver.

“We are in the process of appealing the outcome of the Vanessa Demopoulos on Jacqueline Amorim on Saturday at ufc vegas 97. The broadcast clearly shows Jaqueline illegally grabbing and manipulating Vanessa's gloves, which prevented Vanessa from turning to Jaqueline and directly allowed Jaqueline to transition to the armbar that ended the fight,” the agency wrote in contact with the MMA Junkie.

After a series of exchanges, Amorim managed to take the fight to the ground. The Brazilian dominated the position, in addition to mounting and locking Demopoulos' waistline. The Greek complained that the Brazilian had grabbed her gloves, preventing her from defending herself. She then tapped out.

According to the agency, this action would have prevented her from defending herself from the submission and is asking that the fight be changed to a 'no contest'. The UFC has not yet commented on the case. The Jacqueline Amorim, in turn, did not comment on the accusation.
