Known for being the first fighter to defeat Alex Poatán in an MMA fight, Quemuel Ottoni withdrew at the last minute from his participation in the 'Contender Series', Dana White's reality show to discover new talent. The Brazilian's decision, which would be the stage for his big dream of joining the company, occurred while he had his hands bandaged backstage at the Apex, in Las Vegas, shortly before the fight took place.
Ottoni's withdrawal did not go unnoticed by Dana White, president of the UFC, who did not hold back on criticizing the fighter, who had a panic attack moments before appearing in search of a contract.

“That’s what the show is. Sometimes you don’t even have to step into the Octagon to realize, ‘This isn’t for me, I can’t handle the pressure, I don’t want to do this.’ That’s what it’s about,” White said during the event.
Quemuel Ottoni will get another chance in the UFC?
Ottoni was scheduled to face Kody Steele, a jiu-jitsu prospect with great potential. It is still unclear whether the Brazilian will have another chance to present himself to the organization in search of a chance. As of the closing of this article, he has not commented on the incident.
With Quemuel's withdrawal, Steele, in turn, was assured by Dana White that he will have a new opportunity in the UFC's talent development program.
