About to perform one of the most notable events in the history of MMA, Dana White seems not to be in the mood to spend more than necessary. At the press conference to promote the fights, held this Thursday (12), the director did not listen to the fighters' appeals, who asked for an increase in the value of performance bonuses.
“Listen, I think if we already have an event to celebrate the hardest working people in the world, maybe a different kind of paycheck or some kind of additional bonus to reward us for all that hard work, what do you think?” asked the flyweight (up to 56,7 kg.) Edgar Chairez, without receiving a response.

Since UFC 300 It has become common for fighters to take advantage of press conferences to request an increase in the amount paid. However, although the strategy has worked on some occasions, including Alex Poatan, that seems to be over, as announced by the organization's CEO after UFC 304. After a night without many victories on the fast track, White assured that he would not increase the bonus any further.
“I think tonight showed that we shouldn’t (increase the bonus). Increasing it doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t make anyone fight harder, it doesn’t change anything. I won’t do it again. Never. Today was the last day of doing it. I’m not saying that in the future the bonuses can’t go up (in general), but I’m not going to be at the press conference saying: ‘200 thousand, 300 thousand’. F*** it. Never again. You can thank everyone on this card for that,” he said at the time.
Performance bonus
Set at US$50 (more than R$277 at the current exchange rate), the bonuses are paid to the athletes with the most impressive performances of the night. Previously categorized as 'Knockout of the Night' and 'Submission of the Night', the awards were simplified to 'Performance of the Night' in 2014. There is also a prize for the athletes involved in the best fight of the event, all of the same amount.
