After last Saturday's battle, UFC light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida, should face another challenge soon, this time outside the Octagon. According to a report from the American website MMA Mania, the karateka suffered an injury to his hand during the fight against Mauricio Shogun and will undergo surgical treatment in the coming days.
If the surgical treatment is confirmed, there is no scheduled date for Lyoto's return to training, therefore, the expected rematch between Machida and Shogun, which seems to have been considered even for UFC 108, is unlikely to happen in early 2010.
