In an interview with Full Send MMA, Poatan referred to Du Plessis as a 'dog's c*ck', which was translated into English as 'scared clown'. Despite the translation being 'lighter' than the original version, the South African did not like the quote.

Through his Twitter account, Du Plessis stated that Alex Poatán 'went too far'.

“A scared clown, how dare you?” du Plessis wrote on the microblogging network. “Now this is going too far. I already said I will fight you or (Sean) Strickland. What else do you want or should I appoint your translator?” Dricus added, teasing that Poatan is not fluent in English.

Alex Poatan has a fight scheduled for UFC 307

Despite revealing interest in returning to the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) to face Dricus Du Plessis, Alex Poatán has a scheduled commitment to defend his reign in the light heavyweight category (up to 93 kg). He faces the American Khalil rountree, famous for knocking out Anderson Silva in training. The clash will be the main fight of the UFC 307, scheduled for October 5th, in Salt Lake City (USA).
