Seen for a few years as one of the promises for the lightweight category (up to 70 kg.), Kevin Lee announced last Wednesday (18) his return to MMA at the 'Lights Out Championship' event. His opponent will be Brazilian Thiago Oliveira, on the 28th of this month, in Wayne, Michigan (USA).

The athlete had announced retirement after being finished with a guillotine in 55 seconds by Rinat Fakhretdinov, in July 2023. However, earlier this year he changed his mind, announcing his return to the sport on social media.

“I’m coming out of retirement. I’m going to fight MMA again. I don’t know when, where or who yet, but I’m losing weight and getting in shape. I’m going to be in the best physical shape of my life, that’s my focus. It’s been six months since I retired and I miss being around the sport,” he said at the time, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Kevin Lee is not going through the best phase of his career. With two wins in his last seven fights, the American was released by the UFC in November 2021. He won Diego Sanchez in Eagle FC, later returning to the Ultimate and facing Fakhretdinov. The fighter had his peak when he disputed the interim lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg.) against Tony Ferguson, being finished in the third round.
