Conor McGregor plans two fights in 2025 and chooses 'new' opponent

Irishman is just two fights away from ending his UFC contract and becoming a free agent

With more than three years of inactivity, return options have run out for Conor McGregor. With just two fights remaining on his current UFC contract, the Irishman appears to be aiming to become a free agent in 2025. While watching the boxing match between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois at Wembley, the biggest star in MMA history reaffirmed his plans in the sport.

“I need to get two fights in 2025. It’s the promised land. My job is to go to the gym and stay in shape, whenever and wherever I am. I’ll be 100 percent ready,” the fighter assured in an interview with DAZN.

McGregor has also designed a 'new' opponent for his return. According to the Irishman, although Michael chandler have an appointment with Charles of the Bronx No. UFC 309, still hopes to face the American in the future.

“My opponent that was scheduled… it is what it is. I accept that. Who knows (who the next opponent will be). It doesn’t matter. Whoever it is, we’ll see. I would like it to be Chandler. I wish him the best of luck (against Charles) and we’ll see where it goes,” McGregor concluded.
