After long years of waiting, Michael chandler gave up waiting for the fight against Conor McGregor and confirmed combat against Charles of the Bronx No. UFC 309, in November. As expected, the American's 'withdrawal' opened up space for new people interested in facing the Irishman in his long-awaited return to the octagon.
In a recent interview with 'Submission Radio', it was the turn of Dan Hooker to make himself available to face the 'Notorious'. Fifth place in the lightweight rankings (up to 70,3 kg), one position ahead of Michael chandler, the New Zealander sees himself as a better option for the Irishman than the American.

“He’s out of a fight. I know Conor is hungry to fight and face someone he can get something out of and who makes a lot of sense. That’s why I think Chandler sitting around waiting and not being active was a defeat. What would he gain by beating Chandler? If he knocked him out? Michael chandler in the first round, Conor McGregor I wouldn't even make the top 5 for that performance,” Hooker pointed out.
Dan Hooker also spoke about the duel between Michael chandler e Charles of the Bronx. In the New Zealander's opinion, the fight match makes more sense for the North American than for the Brazilian.
“I understand why Chandler would want that fight. Obviously, if he gets past Oliveira, the UFC has kind of promised him a title shot, I’m sure. I don’t really know what Charles can get out of it. At our level, when you’re in the top five, top six in the division, it’s whoever’s better on the day. All of these fights are kind of a coin toss.”
