With just under two weeks to go until the light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) title fight in the main event of the UFC 307, the challenger's coach Khalil rountree Jr. is confident not only that his protégé can surprise and dethrone Alex Poatán, as well as making the champion seek grappling to avoid exchanging blows with the North American.
In a recent interview with ESPN North America, John Wood, leader of Syndicate MMA, assured that Khalil rountree will not seek grappling under any circumstances and bet that Alex Poatán will be the fighter to take a tumble during the title fight on October 5th.

“I really believe, my instinct is that Pereira is going to go for a takedown against Khalil. I think he’s going to break down first and try to get a takedown on Khalil, because that’s something he’s actually done before. We’re never going to go for a takedown around here, I guarantee you that. It’s not that we don’t train MMA, wrestling, takedown defense and all that stuff, but I think Alex is going to grab first. But yeah, I’d be shocked if this fight went five rounds. Someone’s going to go down. It’s going to happen and obviously I think I know who it’s going to be,” the coach said.
With Alex Poatán e Khalil rountree Jr. fighting for the light heavyweight belt in the main event, the UFC 307 takes place on October 5th, in Salt Lake City, in the United States, and also features the dispute for the women's bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg) between Rachel Pennington e Julianna Pena.
