At the time, McGregor arrived at the event venue brandishing a cigar, which drew criticism from the former fighter and commentator. Michael Bisping. During the broadcast of his podcast 'Believe You Me', carried out together with Anthony Smith, the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) strongly criticized the Irishman's actions.

“You would think Conor was a big fan of Daniel Dubois because when Joshua was taking those (punches), he was out of his chair. Maybe the cigar was even lit. To come in with a big cigar like that between his teeth and put it out… How do we feel about that? Because the thing that comes to mind right now is: Idiot.”
Smith was also not left behind. Agreeing with Bisping, the American speculated on the reasons behind the behavior of the greatest star in the history of MMA.
“When you change or how much money you need to start doing weird, dumb s*** like that. How rich you need to be to wear sunglasses indoors all the time. For what? I wish I was five percent as cool as he thinks he is. And I don’t want to just talk s*** about Conor, but come on, bro?” he said.
