Over the past seven years, Dana White has been flirting with a possible entry into the boxing business and then declaring the sport's inevitable demise. Now, however, the UFC boss appears to be more serious than ever about venturing into the business of the noble art.
Closely involved with the growth of rising star Callum Walsh, who performed last Friday (20) with the broadcast of UFC Fight Pass, Dana White declared, in a press conference held after the last episode of 'Contender Series', last Tuesday (24), that the time has come to take the step towards the noble art.

“Every time I’m on the phone with these guys I wonder if I’m crazy. But obviously now is the time, or I would have done it back in 2017. I even talked about Anthony Joshua once. I’m glad I put the brakes on and waited. It’s all about timing. Is now the time? We’ll find out. I have a plan. I’m going to implement that plan and see how it works. People have been talking about the death of boxing for 30 years and we’re still talking about boxing now. I always have an idea of how it should be done. I don’t know if it’s possible, but we’ll find out. I’m going to go in there firing on all cylinders,” the UFC president promised.
In Dana White's opinion, no matter how much money is being invested in boxing, there is a lack of ideas regarding television broadcast deals. The UFC president says he is the ideal person to fill that space.
“There’s a million reasons why now is the time. If you look, as much money as Sheikh Turki is throwing at this business, the TV deals aren’t as plentiful. There’s a lot of things I think I can do that other people haven’t done yet. Obviously there’s a lot of work to be done, but what did you notice about the Callum Walsh event? How quickly the fights happened? No podcast shit in between the fights. So yeah, the fights are going to happen quicker,” he concluded.
