With just under a month to go until the long-awaited return to MMA after more than two years away from the sport, Francis Ngannou can count on a major reinforcement in the final stretch of preparation for the fight against the Brazilian Renan Problem at PFL Super Fights, an event that takes place on October 19, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with the American 'ESPN', Eric Nicksick, head coach of Francis Ngannou, revealed that he is trying to capture the UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom aspinall to help the Cameroonian in training.

“I was hoping he (Aspinall) would be around here (France) and we could do some training. I’m not saying it won’t happen, maybe it will happen before we leave here because he’s an hour away by plane. It’s not that far. But he was nice enough to send me the names of some of his training partners and guys we can bring over here to try and help Francis. Tom was interested, he’s a great friend and a great guy,” said the coach.
With or without the help of Tom aspinall, Francis Ngannou debut in the PFL decagon against Renan Problem on October 19. The former UFC champion has not fought MMA since his victory over Cyryl Gane in unification of the Ultimate's linear and interim belts in January 2022. Since then, the Cameroonian has fulfilled his dream of dedicating himself to professional boxing, suffering defeats to former world champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
