Riding high on three consecutive victories and in great form inside and outside the octagon, Renato Moicano occupies 11th position in the lightweight ranking (up to 70,3 kg) and stars in the UFC Paris this Saturday (28) against the French Benoit Saint-Denis, owner of 12th position. When asked about facing a lower ranked opponent, the Brazilian said he did not give much relevance to such metric.

During the media day of UFC Paris, held last Wednesday (25), Moicano downplayed the importance of the UFC's official rankings and pointed to popularity and timing as the most important factors in getting big fights in the organization.

“I don’t think rankings matter. If rankings mattered, things would be easier, but they don’t. We saw last month the Dan Hooker beating Mateuz (Gamrot) and they were far away in the rankings. Even McGregor back then spent I don't know how many years without fighting and was in the rankings. I think in this sport we have to look at the popularity and the moment. Even if Benoit Saint-Denis "If he is ranked behind me, he has a lot of momentum. I think he has a lot of popularity, especially in Europe and that can catapult me, not in the rankings, but in popularity to get even better fights," explained the fighter.

Renato Moicano e Benoit Saint-Denis face each other in the main fight of the UFC Paris, on the afternoon of this Saturday (28), starting at 13 pm (Brasília time).
