At 38, José Aldo appears in the penultimate fight of the main card of UFC 307, having as opponent the North American mario bautista. An underdog in the bookmakers, the Brazilian is looking to impress fans and convince matchmakers regarding his merit in starting another race for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg).

“I even thought I could go straight to the title, but that didn’t happen, but as I said, I accept any challenge. This is my life, to fight and win regardless of the opponent, Mário or Jonathan. After dominating the featherweight category (65,7 kg) for years and fighting for the bantamweight belt on one occasion, Aldo had announced his retirement in September 2022. However, the athlete went back on his decision in May of this year.
When asked why he accepted the fight against Bautista, seven years younger, below the category ranking and less known instead of a former champion, the 'King of Rio' cited Dominick Cruz and reaffirmed his goal of fighting for the belt.
“I was supposed to face him at UFC Rio. But it didn’t happen, I don’t know exactly why. But now, I’m on a different path. I’m looking for a title fight, and that’s what I’m focused on today,” he said.

One of the main names in the history of Brazilian MMA, José Aldo He was the UFC featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) on two occasions and defended the title seven times. In September 2022, the legend decided to retire, being inducted into the Ultimate Hall of Fame the following year.
He returned to MMA in May this year, winning Jonathan martinez by unanimous decision in the UFC 301, in Rio de Janeiro.
