Back on the throne after victory over Rachel Pennington, Julianna Pena wants more. The bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) expressed her desire for a trilogy against Amanda nunes. During a press conference after the UFC 307 This Saturday (5), the 'Venezuelan Poison' challenged the 'Lioness', stating that she retired early and that she is 'cowarding'.
“I would like that Amanda nunes “Stop hiding. I can’t believe she’s retired, she retired too early. I want her back, it’s a trilogy. It would be the biggest fight in the history of women’s MMA,” Peña challenged. “When she retired I booed, I couldn’t believe it. She’s bored, she doesn’t know who she is without fighting in the UFC,” he added.
Considered one of the greatest fighters in the UFC, Amanda nunes retired in June last year. One of the reporters asked what the Venezuelan will do if Amanda nunes do not accept the challenge. In the background, Peña cited the Olympic medalist Kayla harrison, who secured her position as the next challenger for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg) after defeating Ketlen Scallop No. UFC 307.

“If she (Amanda) chickens out, the Kayla harrison also draws attention,” he said.
Amanda nunes seems not to have cared about the rival's challenge, as he did not comment on social media.
Fight against Raquel Pennington
The fight was intensely contested until the last round, with the new champion dominating the first three rounds and Pennington imposing herself in the last two, with a knockdown in favor of the now ex-champion. Peña's victory was announced by a split decision of the judges, who up until that point in the UFC 307 had made questionable decisions.
“A friend told me: 'don't leave it up to the judges'. That was the plan for me, I was watching the fights, I saw that the judges were a bit crazy, but in my head I had done enough”, he said.
Peña also commented on the title, highlighted her strength and that she intends to teach her daughter to have the same determination as her.
“It’s a huge achievement. I’m the first woman to give birth and then win a UFC belt. I’m the definition of a true fighter. I want to teach my daughter how hard work and discipline make you grow. I knew I was going to climb this mountain again, my job is to make women’s MMA grow,” she concluded.
