Close to defending the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg) in UFC 309, Jon Jones has already begun his preparation to face the former champion Stipe Miocic, in what could be the last fight of his career. Through Instagram, 'Bones' published a sparring session in which he hits a knee to the face of Gable Steveson, a wrestler who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

In the video, Jones and Gable exchange blows and light takedowns until, after an attempted double leg by the Olympic medalist, the UFC champion jumps with a flying knee that almost hits the target.

Through 'X' (formerly Twitter), Jon Jones spoke about the feeling of having an athlete of Gable's stature helping him in his preparation.

“It’s humbling to have some of the best athletes in the world supporting me during this training. ‘Be comfortable with being uncomfortable,’” the champion wrote.

Who is Gable Steveson

The Olympic medalist, who has previously hinted at an interest in competing in MMA, at 24, has two NCAA titles and an 85-2 record. Gable was recently released by the NFL's Buffalo Bills football team and also had an unsuccessful stint with the WWE.
