One of the most tense moments for Poatan fans, when Rountree still had some advantage, was when the Brazilian went into a flashdown after receiving a blow from the American. Although the champion recovered quickly, the reaction was one of shock among most of the audience.

Poatan admitted that he felt the blow and commented on the fact that fans were not used to seeing him in situations like this.

“If it was the moment I’m thinking of, I think I felt it (the blow), but I have to watch the video, I can’t tell, no. I think it was something spinning there, I was kind of on my back or side, I don’t remember. So I felt it. This has happened a lot in kickboxing. They’re used to seeing me hitting, hitting and coming away with a clean face. So when I feel a blow, people are shocked. But this is common, it’s part of the fight, but people aren’t used to seeing this happening to me, and when they do, everyone is scared of me,” explained the champion during a press conference after the fight.
