The octagon was left behind, but the fight for victory continued. Ten MMA athletes, including the former UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg), Renan Barao, competed in the municipal elections last Sunday (6), without achieving success with the electorate. Despite the recognition in the world of MMA, the fighters did not get the necessary support to win a seat in the legislature.
In Natal, Barão received 253 votes and, with that, he only secured the status of alternate. A similar scenario was repeated in other cities. In the capital of São Paulo, Felipe Sertanejo obtained 14.607 votes, also insufficient for a seat in the City Council.

Other former UFC athletes have also tried their luck in politics, without success. Geoffrey Pepey (Strength), Lead Foot (Teresopolis), Tiago Trator (Laranjal do Jari) and Ronnie Torres (Manacapuru) received, respectively, 77, 111, 257 and 472 votes, being left out of the election.
Rudimar Fedrigo, one of the great 'masters' of Chute Boxe, received 3.758 votes, while José Pelé Landi, a Brazilian legend in MMA and former rival of Popó in Fight Music Show, won only 143 votes, both in Curitiba.
