Tension took over the backstage of Karate Combat 50, an event held this Friday (11). Aline Pereira, sister of Alex Poatán, caused a moment of great agitation when she pushed her opponent, Dee Begley, during the face-off. The confusion began with the Irishwoman's failure in the official weigh-in, followed by a heated argument and the athlete's punishment.
Aline Pereira's debut at Karate Combat 50 was scheduled for last Friday in Utah (USA), but expectations for the fight were overshadowed by a series of events behind the scenes. The official weigh-in, held one day before the event, revealed a mistake by Dee Begley, who weighed in above the established limit, even after a request to fight at a catchweight.

The Brazilian, visibly irritated by her rival's lack of professionalism, did not hold back on her criticism during the face-off. When she saw Begley climb on a box to be at the same height, Aline lost her patience and pushed her, being restrained by security guards.
The Brazilian's action was a response to the provocation of the Irishwoman, who smiled provocatively. As a consequence of the infraction, Dee Begley was fined 40% of her purse. The fight between the two athletes, however, went ahead, with a new weight limit.
