Mike Tyson shows confidence and promises a short fight against Jake Paul: 'knockout in the first round'

The former heavyweight champion returns to the ring in November to face YouTuber Jake Paul, 21 years his junior, in a fight scheduled for eight rounds.

With just over a month to go until the highly anticipated boxing match between Mike Tyson e Jake Paul, the former champion revealed that he plans a short and very painful fight against the YouTuber, 21 years younger. The fight, scheduled for eight rounds, will take place on November 15 at AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, Texas (USA).

“A lot of pain! If I don’t have to catch him, you can expect a first-round knockout. I anticipate having to chase this guy for a round or two,” Tyson said in an interview at the promotional event for 'LF*go'.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place on July 20, but Mike, 58, went through a medical discomforts and was forced to postpone the match. Now recovered, the former champion assured that he is ready to face Jake Paul.

“It’s a fight I’ve been training for. I’ve been training a lot harder. I’m ready. It’s hard to explain the training methods. I’m just ready to fight.”

Mike Tyson's Return

Officially retired from boxing in 2005, Tyson returned for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020 but has not competed since. Paul, on the other hand, has made a name for himself as one of the top faces in influencer boxing, having defeated several former UFC fighters and even the legend Anderson Silva.

Brazil in the ring

Representing Brazil, the comedian and influencer Whindersson Nunes will face off against Indian Neeraj Goyat. The fight will have six three-minute rounds and will be valid for professional fighters. 

Whinderson has a brief experience in the noble art. In 2019, he defeated Mário Silva in an amateur fight and, less than three years later, drew with Acelino Popo in an exhibition fight. More recently, the comedian competed in the celebrity tournament promoted by Kingpyn Boxing, where he defeated Filipek in the quarterfinals but was defeated by Kenny Kenny in the semifinals. In October of last year, he was defeated by Nathan Bartling at Misfits Boxing.
