Lucas Rocha succumbs to pressure and is submitted in his UFC Vegas 98 debut

Amazonian Lucas Rocha, a promising Brazilian MMA fighter, was unable to convert the hype in his first fight in the Ultimate. In a fight valid for the flyweight (up to 56,7 kg) at UFC Vegas 98 this Saturday (12), the Brazilian was subjected to a jiu-jitsu lesson by Clayton Carpenter and finished in the second round.

With the setback, Rocha accumulates his second defeat in 19 fights, after being hired with prominence in the 'Contender Series'. On the other hand, Carpenter maintained his undefeated career and now has two victories by submission in the UFC.

The athletes began by fighting for control of the center of the octagon, and the Brazilian had some good moments when he connected with a precise right in the first moves. However, halfway through the first round, the American managed a strategic takedown, taking advantage of the position to apply an elbow that opened a small cut above Rocha's eyebrow. From that moment on, Clayton dominated on the ground until the end of the round, ensuring an advantage in the score.

In the second round, Lucas came back ready to recover and landed a beautiful knee that shook his opponent. However, showing composure, Carpenter took advantage of an opening and, after two minutes, took the fight to the ground again. Taking the Brazilian's back, he applied a tight rear naked choke, forcing Rocha to tap out three times and ending the fight by submission.
