Dana White's outrage over the way UFC rankings are managed appears to have reached a point of no return. Days after blasting the fact that Khalil rountree remain only in eighth place in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg) after a great performance in the defeat to the champion Alex Poatán, the president of Ultimate promised drastic changes.

In a press conference held after the last edition of the Contender Series, last Tuesday (15), Dana White spoke out and guaranteed that soon the rankings will no longer be defined by specialized journalists, as has been done for the last 11 years.

“I can’t deal with incompetence. I can’t take it anymore. It’s driving me crazy. I can’t let people who I believe don’t know what the f*** they’re doing handle the rankings anymore. I can’t do it anymore. I have to find a solution. Tomorrow I’m going to have a meeting with a group of people who came to me saying they have a solution to this problem. I hope they’re right, because I’m going to change. The press will no longer control the UFC rankings,” Dana assured.

CONTINUES AFTER ADVERTISING:

Despite the outrage, Dana White does not believe in the maxim that 'if you don't like it, do it yourself'. In the president's opinion, it would be unfeasible for him or any other high-ranking UFC employee to be responsible for the rankings.

“We can’t do that. I don’t think it’s right that we’re responsible for the rankings. No matter how impartial you try to be, it’s impossible. To be honest with you, there are fighters that I don’t like. There are fighters that I really like. There are things that are not good for business. I don’t want that in our hands. Not in mine, not in Sean Shelby’s, Mick’s, Hunter’s, nobody’s. There has to be a third party or an artificial intelligence or something that does these rankings. It’s impossible not to be biased. I think there’s bias in the media too,” he explained.
