The year 2024 has undoubtedly been the year of Alex Poatán. The Brazilian, who holds the UFC middleweight (up to 83,9kg) and light heavyweight (up to 93kg) belts on the shelf, has seen his name increasingly linked to the 'Fighter of the Year' award. And for good reason: with three title defenses in 175 days, the star's performance has impressed everyone, including other athletes on the roster.

In a recent statement to journalist 'Kevin Iole', Max Holloway, one of the most respected names in the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg), did not hide his admiration for his compatriot.

“I think Alex Pereira (Poatan) already has that award in his hand. The way he approached the fights, being the fastest guy to get three title defenses. It’s very hard to top that. I don’t know if I could do it,” said Holloway.

Despite the success, Poatan has already announced that intends to take a period of rest to recover properly before returning to the octagon. With his fifth consecutive victory achieved in the UFC 307, in front of Khalil rountree, the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) further consolidated his position as one of the greatest fighters in the history of MMA. At 37 years old, he has a record of 12 wins and two losses.
