In the debutant bout at One Friday Fights 83, there was much anticipation as to whether Spaniard Mikel Fernandez would be able to overcome Thailand's Rugnanarai Kiatmooka, who was fighting at home in a muay thai bout in the strawweight category (up to 56,7 kg) of the event. But hopes of a competitive fight were dashed in the first round, when the European was knocked out with a 'goal kick'.

The athletes fought a studied fight, with few exchanges of blows. However, towards the end of the first round, the Thai counterattacked an attack by Fernandez with a left cross that took the Spaniard to the ground. In the sequence of the fight, Rugnanarai kicked Mikel in the face, which ended up knocking him out.

Disqualification

According to the rules of Muay Thai, a fighter cannot land strikes if his opponent is on the ground; therefore, Mikel could not have been kicked in the face. Therefore, the referee stopped the fight and declared victory for the Spaniard, after disqualifying the Thai fighter.
