Scheduled to fight internationally for the first time on September 14th at the Bellator Champions Series in London, Daiane Silva ended up having health problems and was prevented from entering the octagon. The Brazilian, who was supposed to face Kuwaiti Eman Almudhaf, is in serious condition in the hospital.

Although her condition is improving, Daiane has been in the London hospital for over a month, most of which she has spent in a coma. The fighter, who is undefeated in her career, was undergoing a change in weight class, as her previous fights had been at lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) and this time she would fight at featherweight (up to 65,7 kg).

Daiane's manager, Alex Davis, gave an update on the fighter's condition. He told MMA Junkie that the athlete was hospitalized in delicate condition, but that she has shown steady improvements. He also praised the organization for their support throughout the recovery process.

“Daiane suffered an injury while cutting weight for her Bellator debut in London. She was promptly attended to by a doctor and transported to a hospital in very critical condition. She was admitted to the hospital and has been under intensive care since then. She has been receiving careful medical treatment and has been making steady improvements. Bellator, myself, her team, her doctor and the hospital medical staff have worked together to support her and help her recover. Please join us in our support and best wishes to her and her family as she recovers from a very difficult situation. I would also like to commend Bellator for their support throughout this process,” Davis said.
