Former UFC lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed the reasons that prevent him from having a friendship with Jon Jones. The Russian made it clear that his relationship with 'Bones' is marked by his long-standing friendship with Daniel Cormier, one of the biggest rivals of the current heavyweight belt holder (up to 120,2 kg) in the octagon.
“I have never had any quarrels with Jones. As a fighter, he is incredible, and it will be difficult to match him. But my friend Cormier is in conflict with him, so Jones cannot be my friend. I do not associate with those who are not friends with my friends,” Khabib said.

The rivalry between Jon Jones e Daniel Cormier is considered one of the greatest in UFC history. The two faced each other on two occasions, with Jones emerging victorious in both, although one of the victories was later overturned due to a positive drug test. The intense rivalry went beyond the confines of the octagon, with constant provocations and friction between the two athletes.
Khabib and Cormier are friends
Khabib, in turn, cultivated a solid friendship with Cormier during the years they both trained together at American Top Team (ATT).
Loyalty to his friends is one of the pillars of the Russian's personality, who has always shown great respect and admiration for Cormier. The fighters are members of the 'Hall of Fame' for achievements in the UFC.
