Ngannou liked the idea of facing Rico Verhoeven / Montage Reproduction
The PFL Superfights heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), Francis Ngannou, has just won the belt in his return to MMA after almost three years and is already ready to accept new challenges. During an interview with 'Ariel Helwani', the journalist asked the French-Cameroonian if he would face the current Glory kickboxing champion, Rico Verhoeven. In his response, Ngannou seemed open to facing the famous fighter.
Ariel's idea for this 'crossover' came about due to the current situation of the PFL heavyweight division, which is lacking great talent. Francis even revealed that he has already met Verhoeven and even trained with him.
“Yes, yes, of course (I know Rico). I trained with him. No, we are not friends (though). I mean, we met once in the gym. We are friends, but not to the point where we can’t fight each other. We are gym friends. But they (Glory) can send me an offer,” Ngannou replied.

Ngannou made his long-awaited return to the octagon on Saturday night (19), at PFL: Battle of the Giants, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He faced Renan Problem for the organization's special belt in the main event. The Brazilian entered the octagon with an undefeated streak of six fights, but ended up brutally knocked out by Francis Ngannou in the first round.
Rico Verhoeven
Known as 'The King of Kickboxing', Rico Verhoeven has not lost in ten years. In his last fight for Glory, in March, he defeated Levi Rigters by knockout. Although he does not have much experience in MMA, Verhoeven did score a knockout victory over Viktor Bogutzki at RXF 20 in 2015.
