Khamzat Shimaev surprised by admitting that his weakened immunity was the main reason for his withdrawal from UFC Saudi Arabia. In an interview for 'Countdown' UFC 308 Next Saturday (26), the Russian revealed that a process of intense physical wear and tear, with daily training until exhaustion, left him susceptible to illnesses, in addition to forcing him to stay away from the octagon for a few months.
The fighter, who faces Robert whittaker this Saturday (26), in Abu Dhabi, he confessed that the experience made him rethink his training routine.

“In the last three weeks, my immunity has dropped. I don’t know what happened. All the guys ate the same food, but only I got sick. I was hospitalized for a few days,” the fighter reported.
Chimaev, known for his physical strength and endurance, appears to have found a new balance, prioritizing rest and injury prevention. With the Whittaker fight looming, Chimaev's team has adopted a more conservative approach to training, in an effort to prevent the fighter from wearing himself out again.
The change in strategy aims to ensure that the Russian is in top physical and mental shape to face one of the biggest challenges of his career. In his career, Khamzat has an unbeaten record of 13 victories.
