Magomed Ankalayev does not hide his game. In a press conference at the 'media day', held on the morning of this Thursday (24), the Russian accused the UFC of postponing his fight for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg) just to face Aleksandar rakic. The fight, according to him, serves only to protect Alex Poatán against your playing style.
“We know Rakic is a great fighter. I think the only reason the UFC put him in front of me is to defend their champion, Alex (Poatan) Pereira,” Ankalaev said.

The rivalry between Ankalaev and Poatan has been growing ever since the Brazilian won the light heavyweight title. The Russian, undefeated in the UFC, has always been considered the main challenger for the belt. However, the UFC opted to hold other fights before scheduling the match between the two.
With Magomed's statement, the expectation is that the pressure on the UFC will increase to schedule a fight between the two fighters. The fighter, who is ranked second in the division, has a record of 19 wins and one loss, in addition to one fight without a result. He needs to convince Dana White with a good performance to have a chance to compete for the title.
