The training routine Alex Poatán is marked by intensity and the constant search for improvement. But it was during a sparring session with professional boxer Igor Adiel that the current UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) revealed his aggressiveness inside the ring.
In an interview with the 'Trend Cast' podcast, Adiel detailed how the clashes with the champion were. According to him, the training sessions were true battles, with emphasis on the intensity and commitment of both during training.

“I remember our first sparring, where we did six rounds. Then, he came back more times. I have videos with everything recorded from those sparrings. I even have the ones he posted, and I have some older ones too. I have one of eight rounds that we did. It was a fight, brother. Eight rounds of exchanging blows,” said the fighter.
The friendship and mutual respect between the two athletes did not stop them from getting the best out of each other. Igor also reported that the pressure during training was high, considering that any mistake by either of them would be a foul.
“He relies a lot on his guard and his chin. He has a challenging guard, a bit low, but he doesn’t let himself be fooled. He has a different hand, he fits his game well and he’s a very intelligent guy, he has a good sense of distance (…), I’m sure he was also nervous, because he knew that any mistake there would be fatal. I can say that my training with him was like fighting. It was like having a ‘messed up’ body for a week, training even with a smaller load”, added Adiel.
