Tyson Fury revealed a personal drama that followed him on the eve of his last fight against Oleksandr Usyk. In a press conference, the former world heavyweight champion said that his wife, Paris, suffered a miscarriage in the sixth month of pregnancy. The family tragedy occurred one day before the fight for the world belt, in May of this year.

“When Paris said she couldn’t come [to Saudi Arabia], I knew something was wrong. She usually comes fight week, but she said she had high blood pressure. She said she couldn’t come, and I asked her to tell me what was going on and she wouldn’t tell me. I knew there was a problem. I said to my brother, ‘She lost that baby,’” Fury said, his voice breaking.

Tyson confessed that the news shook him deeply. Despite the suffering, the Briton denied that the incident influenced the outcome of the fight, which he lost by split decision to Usyk.

“She was six months pregnant. It’s not a small miscarriage at the beginning, you have to physically give birth to a stillborn child, alone, while your husband is abroad. I couldn’t be with her, and that was hard for me. The fight was fair. Usyk is a great champion,” she said.
