Injuries are part of the routine of high-performance athletes, but some, like the one suffered by Chris Barnett, the 'Fatty Charisma', in UFC 308, could be avoided. Moments before the start of the fight against Kennedy Nzechukwu on Saturday afternoon (26), while he was being introduced by Bruce Buffer already on top of the octagon, the Spanish heavyweight injured himself when he jumped and stepped wrong when he touched the ground.
The unnecessary leap cost him dearly. Barnett even resisted the first few minutes of the duel against Nzechukwu and managed to land some plastic blows against his rival, but towards the end of the first round he began to have difficulty placing his left foot on the ground, he felt the injury and was brutally knocked out by the Nigerian with a relentless sequence of blows against the fence.

Chris Barnett, who returned to fighting after more than two years of inactivity, suffered his third defeat in his last five fights and is expected to remain away from competition for a while longer as he needed help to leave the octagon.
On the other side, Kennedy Nzechukwu debut with victory in the heavyweight division. The former light heavyweight is recovering from a two-fight losing streak in the lower weight class.
