“Thank you to all the fight fans for your support. Sorry to disappoint you. This is definitely not how I wanted to celebrate my 40th birthday; it was a tough loss. This is the second time in my UFC career that I’ve been hospitalized after a fight, which makes me feel blessed because it could have been worse. This is a tough game. Now it’s time to recover and enjoy family. I’m not done yet, I’ll be back soon. God bless you all. I’ll keep you updated on my stories,” dos Anjos wrote, alongside a photo of himself on crutches and with his knee in a cast.
