In the weeks leading up to the UFC 308, held in Abu Dhabi last Saturday (26), many fans and experts raised the hypothesis that the weight cut harmed Max Holloway. Although the fighter has been knocked out, the Hawaiian assured that fighting in the featherweight category (up to 65,9 kg) did not impact the result of the fight, but he was excited to return to lightweight next (up to 70,3 kg).

At the press conference after his fight in UFC 308, Holloway said that the weight cut was not a problem and that he felt good during the fight. However, the fighter is positive about a permanent move to the next category.
“We’re going to get together with the team, relax. There’s no need to rush back right now. But I might try to come back in the summer, on the big card in July, right? We’ll see what happens. I mean, 70 pounds looks pretty good right now. Like I said, I had the best cut at 66 pounds here. But what else is there to do? I’ve had a few chances to get the title back. New guys coming up. Yeah, that would be fun. But I think lightweight looks more fun, fighting more, the caliber, everyone there, it looks really exciting to put my name in the mix. You’ll see me back. It’s not a funeral. I promise,” Holloway said.
Holloway's lightweight record
In April 2019, Max Holloway was the featherweight champion and tried his luck at the interim lightweight title against Dustin poirier. On that occasion, the Hawaiian was defeated by unanimous decision. In his second stint in the division, five years later, Max knocked out Justin gaethje No. UFC 300 and won the 'BMF' belt.
