In his fifth UFC fight, Sharabutdin Magomedov surprised Armen petrosyan e applied a brutal knockout at the end of the second round. Although he is still outside the middleweight rankings (up to 84,9 kg), the 'Pirate' impressed the public and asked for a fight against Israel adesanya in the interview, still inside the octagon.
During the press conference following his victory in the UFC 308, Shara reinforced his challenge to the former champion and said that he has been chasing the Nigerian since the times when they both competed in kickboxing.

“I was already chasing Israel when he was kickboxing in China. I was also competing there. Now that he has moved to MMA, and I am here, I am ready to capture what he has achieved. I am ready to fight him no matter where. I beat his friend and training partner in China, and I was ready to fight him. Israel was very popular in China. Then he switched to MMA and signed with the UFC. Now I am here too,” Shara said.
Magomedov acknowledges that, due to the difference in rankings, a fight with Adesanya could happen in the next rounds. However, the 'Pirate' doesn't care about when he faces the Nigerian, as long as this fight happens.
“I’m not in a hurry. I’m not running in front of the train. The only way to Israel adesanya avoiding this fight is retiring. Of course I would like to face him to prove that I am the best striker in the division. But I also want to fight against Marvin vettori to show that my wrestling is good. These two names excite me a lot. Besides them, guys like Kevin holland e Michael Pereira I'm also interested. Our average weight is full of predators and sharks, but I'm the only pirate.” Magomedov added
