It seems like Magomed Ankalayev is close to realizing his dream of fighting for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg). More than that: fighting for it against Alex Poatán, which has become an obsession for the Russian in recent times. This is because Dana White ended up giving indications that the confrontation is close to happening.
Before Ankalaev entered the octagon against Aleksandar rakic No. UFC 308, in Abu Dhabi, last Saturday (26), Dana White had already demanded an impeccable performance from him to have the right to challenge Poatan. However, there was no knockout, nor submission (for a change). The Russian had a 'lukewarm' fight with Rakic and won by unanimous decision of the judges. Even so, it seems that the clash between Ankalaev and Poatan has become inevitable even for Dana White.
“He did well. He absolutely looked great. I would say yes (about the fight against Poatan),” the organization’s president declared at the post-event press conference. UFC 308.

“Come on. Alex, stop running from me. I heard he wants to fight during Ramadan. We will not fight during Ramadan. Before or after Ramadan, if he says yes, we will fight him,” he said.
