Farid Basharat showed personality in the UFC 308, held in Abu Dhabi last Saturday (26), by accepting to fight with a physical disadvantage and winning Victor Striker, who missed the weight. This was the Anglo-Afghan's second victory in 2024, and he already has a plan drawn up for 2025: a generational duel with José Aldo.

Undefeated in his career with 13 wins, four of which were in the UFC, Farid took advantage of the press conference after the UFC 308 to point José Aldo, the 'King of the River', as his next target.

“In early 2025, I want 'The King of Rio', José Aldo. We can do it in Brazil, in America, in London, in Saudi Arabia, wherever. It doesn't matter. If he wins, he proves that he belongs to this new generation. If I win, he passes the baton. We'll see. Generations collide. I've been watching him since I was 11 or 12. I think it's the perfect fight and it makes perfect sense." Basharat said.

In his last appearance, Aldo was defeated by mario bautista, who adopted a strategy that angered both fans and Dana White himself. Although Basharat recognizes that following a similar tactic would be the easiest way to beat the Brazilian, he guarantees that, if he faces the 'King of Rio', he will not resort to this method.

“If I’m being completely honest, I thought Jose won. But how many times has he lost by standing on the fence? I would definitely approach it differently. He’s shown that he has flaws there. It’s just not my style. I’ll take you down, move you around, and kick you. At the end of the day, I feel like at this stage of my career and Aldo’s career, I have the advantage in most areas. Aside from experience and maybe power, I think I’m better than him in every aspect,” Farid concluded.

Farid Basharat earned his UFC contract in 2022, through 'Dana White's Contender Series'. Since then, he has accumulated four wins in four fights in the organization.
