Khamzat Shimaev never ceases to amaze. After mastering and finishing Robert whittaker No. UFC 308 last Saturday (26), the Swede added fuel to the fire by challenging Alex Poatán for a super fight in the light heavyweight category (up to 93 kg). In an interview after the fight, 'Lobo' made clear his interest in moving up a division and facing the champion, but considers that he still needs to win the middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg).
“Man, I’ve been talking about three belts for a long time. So, of course, I want to move up. But I don’t know what Dana White and the UFC want. If they give me another fight at my weight first, I need to win the belt. Then I’ll think about that too,” Chimaev said.

With his dominant victory over Whittaker, Chimaev cemented his position as one of the most dangerous fighters in the welterweight division. Poatan, for his part, has yet to officially comment on Chimaev's challenge.
The Brazilian won the light heavyweight belt and has already defended the title on three occasions, and has several names already being considered as possible challengers – including Magomed Ankalayev and revenge against Jamahal hill and Han Blachowicz.
Chimaev's arrival in the category certainly adds a new element to the title fight. The fighter, who is undefeated in MMA, has positioned himself to face Dricus du Plessis in his current division, but had already challenged the Brazilian in the past.
