Amidst the emotions of the octagon, where aggression and the search for victory are the protagonists in every fight, a story of compassion and solidarity stands out. Current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) and one of the main highlights of the UFC today, Alex Poatán has a little explored side to his personality: that of a true 'guardian angel' for those who need it most.

In an interview with the 'Overdogs' podcast, his mentor, the former champion Glover Teixeira, revealed details of Poatan's philanthropic plans in Brazil. The champion, inspired by Glover's trajectory and touched by the reality of many Brazilian families, decided to use his influence and resources to transform the lives of needy people.

“Poatan told me: ‘Glover, we have to plan something for Brazil, we have to fix some people’s houses, man’. He saw the reality of many families, houses without stoves, without roofs in the kitchen, precarious bathrooms. And that touched him deeply”, Glover revealed.

Poatan's idea is not limited to simple donations. The champion wants to go further, by promoting home renovations, ensuring basic housing conditions and offering hope to these families.

“From the beginning, when I got here, he loved the way I was helping people in Brazil, taking people to the supermarket. And he started doing that after his first UFC fights. Of course, he’s growing now. Now he can do more, bigger, bigger things. Lots of trucks and different cities,” Glover added.

Alex Poatán, 37 years old, has a record of 12 wins and four losses. In his career, he has beaten names such as Israel adesanya, Jamahal hill, Jan Blachowicz, Jiri Prochazka, Khalil rountree e Sean Strickland. He doesn't have a fight scheduled yet, but he has already declared his interest in returning to the octagon in March.
