After thrilling victory about Rose namajunas on Saturday night (2) at UFC Edmonton, In Canada, Erin Blanchfield revealed that she already has her next target inside the octagon. Aiming for the flyweight title (up to 56,7 kg), the fighter challenged the former champion of the category Alexa grasso, who recently lost the title to Valentina Shevchenko No. UFC 306, In September.

During a post-event press conference, Blanchfield said that she learned a lot from her fights and that she is prepared to face this great challenge.

“I’m 25 years old, I’m still building my career. I’ve been winning big fights and I’m learning more and more. I feel like this will give me the experience I need, so that’s why I called someone like Alexa. She’s already said she’d love to fight, so I think it’s going to happen,” Blanchfield revealed.

Currently ranked third, Blanchfield had her six-fight winning streak snapped in the UFC after losing to Manon Fiorot, second place. Her unanimous decision victory over Namajunas gave her the confidence she needed to aim higher.

“I thought I did badly in the first two rounds, but I was sure I won the last three, it was a great fight! Both me and my coach knew I would find my timing in the fight and I managed to perform well on the ground,” he highlighted.

Namajunas, who recently moved up a division, suffered her second straight loss. Even so, Blanchfield acknowledged her opponent's efforts and said that it gave her the experience needed to face Alexa and, later, challenge Shevchenko for the belt.

“I feel like all the fights I’ve had have led me to this point and fighting opponents at this level has been preparing me. She (Alexa) is another great boxer, as is Rose, so I can see it being similar,” she concluded.
