The Octagon battle mirrors many previous fights. Those faced by one Brazilian in particular before the UFC Edmonton last Saturday (2) was another heavyweight fight (up to 102,2kg). After being defeated by the Moldovan Alexander Romanov, Rodrigo Nascimento came out publicly to apologize for his performance and made a revelation: the athlete faced infections and the use of medication during the week of the fight.
Still with his nose bruised from the fight, 'Zé Hive' posted a video on his Instagram profile addressed to the UFC and fans. He did not blame the setback for the defeat, but said that the disease hit him hard, he was tired from the medication and congratulated his opponent.

“Sorry UFC, sorry Dana, sorry for my performance, sorry to those who paid to see my fight, it wasn’t my best performance. Congratulations to Alexander Romanov, he won the fight. I don't want to take any credit, but this week when I got to Canada, I got really sick. I tried my best to stay in the fight. I called my doctor and he gave me my main medications to help my ear and throat because I have a big infection. All these medications made me super tired,” the fighter reported. See the video below.
Yogi Bear didn't get excited
Rodrigo has reasons to need to explain himself. The performance of the Minas Gerais native in Canada was not exciting. At the end of the three rounds, the judges gave the victory to Alexander Romanov. 'King Kong' was coming off a defeat to another Brazilian, Jailton Malhadinho, who finished him in the first round in a fight held in June.
Zé Hive, in turn, has accumulated two consecutive defeats and has had a difficult time at Dana White's company. The previous one was by technical knockout applied by the North American Derrick Lewis. In his career, there are 11 positive results and three negative results.
