After Jon Jones affirm in all letters not be interested to unify the heavyweight belts (up to 120,2 kg) against Tom aspinall, Dana White once again tries to put a damper on the situation. For the CEO of the largest MMA organization in the world, not only Jones, but also Stipe Miocic would accept to face the interim champion in case of victory in UFC 309.

“I truly believe that whoever wins this fight, just competitively, because of the way these guys are wired and because of the fact that they’re both great legends of the sport, they’re not going to just walk away from the sport without settling the dispute with Tom aspinall”, said the bald man to the North American website TNT Sports.

This is not the first time that White has tried to envision scenarios in which the titles are unified. The official has already stated, for example, that the Englishman will be the official reserve for the main fight of the UFC 309, making weight and replacing either Jones or Miocic in case of injury to either.

Initially scored after Jones finished Cyryl Gane No. UFC 285, the fight against the former heavyweight champion was postponed due to a shoulder injury to 'Bones'. Aspinall has since claimed the interim title by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich and even defended him against Curtis blaydes in July this year.

During all this time, Tom aspinall expressed interest in facing Jon Jones on several occasions, including accusing his rival of running away from a possible fight.

Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic

Se Jon Jones faces a hiatus of almost two years in his career due to the injury in his left shoulder, Stipe Miocic has been away from the octagon for even longer. Considered by many to be the best heavyweight in history, the former champion has not fought since March 2021, when he was brutally knocked out by Francis Ngannou. At 42 years old, there is also speculation in the media about the possibility of the fighter hanging up his gloves for good after UFC 309.
