Tom aspinall is on US soil with the aim of being ready for any eventuality in UFC 309 next Saturday (16). The British confirmed that he will be the reserve fighter for the main fight between Jon Jones e Stipe Miocic, which puts the linear belt of the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) up for grabs. The confirmation was made by the fighter on his social networks.
Should either of the two athletes be unable to fight due to injury or other unforeseen circumstances, Aspinall will step in to replace him. The Englishman, who has shown great interest in facing Jones, sees this opportunity as a chance to 'realize his dream' of facing 'Bones'.

At 37, Jon Jones has given indications that the fight against Miocic could be the last of his career. Given this scenario, the only alternative for Aspinall to measure forces against the American would be in the event of some eventuality in the main fight.
