Seven, eight or ten cigarettes a day. That's the routine of Carlos Prates, one of the most promising names in world MMA. The Brazilian, who 'turned off' Neil Magny No. ufc vegas 100 last Saturday (9) and remains undefeated in the UFC, defies all expectations by reconciling his nicotine addiction with the life of a high-performance athlete.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani's podcast, Prates admitted to smoking around ten cigarettes a day, even with his intense training routine and the need to keep his body in shape for fights.

“Yes (I still smoke). Maybe seven, eight or ten a day. They (my coaches) talked to me a lot before, but now? I tried to quit once. In one week, I gained 5kg in six days. I ate a lot, I didn’t go to the gym to train. The last time I smoked before the fight was before I went to Apex. I can’t smoke there. There, you can’t smoke anything. You can’t drink anything. It’s just water and something to eat that they give you,” he said. Carlos Prates in an interview with Ariel Helwani.

Despite the difficulties, Carlos Prates has shown that smoking has not been an impediment to his achievements in the octagon.
