“I was a different person back then. I was using narcotics, alcohol back then. I’m not that person anymore. I see a better image of myself now. I see light. I see the world from a different perspective now,” Tyson explained.
But despite claiming to have been practicing healthy habits for years, many fans are still concerned about the celebrity, since the fight was postponed from July to November after Tyson suffered an ulcer attack during a flight. But the boxer insists that he is more than ready for this fight.
“Great. I feel great. Listen, I’m fighting young guys, 30s, 20s, I’m fighting young guys and they’re beating me up really hard. It was no picnic when I first started training. I’m fighting younger guys and they’re really beating me up in the beginning. I’m doing my part. The sky’s the limit. We’ll see. I’m interested in doing it again,” he added.
Tyson retired from professional boxing at age 38 after losing to Kevin McBride in 2005. After a long hiatus from the sport, Tyson returned for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. Now, the former champion faces Jake Paul em a professional fight eight-round bout this Friday at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
